I thought a fitting first thread for the OpenRoad Cafe forum would be my morning commute today into OpenRoad.TV's World Headquarters in Sausalito, California.

I got a late start this morning, as I had to drop my kids off at school and run a quick errand. It's a rainy Tuesday morning in my home town of Corte Madera. It is a pretty short drive down Highway 101 South to Sausalito...

As I cross over the Richardson Bay Bridge just north of Sausalito, I am glad to see the foul weather starting to break...

And here is my exit...

Heading into town now, the weather is actually making for some great photos...

A quick pit stop across the street from OpenRoad HQ at Northpointe Coffee, which is a wonderful coffeehouse off of Bridgeway in Sausalito - always bustling with locals and travelers passing through...

And here is the view out the back patio of Northpointe Coffee, which is a perfect place to sit and enjoy a triple latte and the views of the Bay (weather permitting of course)...

The restaurant right next door to Northpointe Coffee is called Paradise Bay - a great lunch menu here...

And there is my destination... OpenRoad.TV World Headquarters...

Finally, a parting shot of the view from inside the office as I unwind from my 15 minute commute (including latte stop)...

Wow it must be tough having to commute all the way from corte madera to Sasalito, (just kidding) is that gate 5 where you are located? I used to have a house boat there many years ago (1969), until it blew away. those were the days

We are actually further down Bridgeway from Gate 5 towards the hustle and bustle of town. We are set between Bridgeway and Caledonia streets, across from what used to be Margaritaville Restaurant, and is now Paradise Bay.

Sorry to hear about that houseboat :(

How nice that the only "grind" in your daily commute is the coffee! My commute each morning is from the bedroom to the study -- past a vista of the forest and ridges outside. As soon as I figure out how to hook up my new camera with the laptop, I'll share the experience.

Thanks to the joys and blessings of a satellite connection to the Internet, I was able to work mostly from home the last six years of my career. We won't talk about how many pounds I gained because a bathrobe is very forgiving. Let's just say that the fact that "the snack bar is always open" was a curse rather than a blessing.

Stopped by OpenRoad.TV headquarters on my way from Marin back to SF last week, yes, terrible terrible commute, we all just feel so sorry for you!

I used to live in a houseboat at Gate 5, loved waking up and taking the kayak out for a tour of Richardson Bay or Angel Island (that is - until the day the fog rolled in faster than I could hightail it back to the houseboat, whew!). Eventually, though, despite its charms, I missed the multi-culturalism of San Francisco and moved back into the city, to the Richmond District just over the bridge and next to the Presidio. Not a bad compromise!

Getting through Sausalito on a motorcycle can be very frustrating on a motorcycle, as there are so many tourists inching along, trying to decide where to park while rubbernecking at the view of the boats and the pretty little city of SF across the bay. Maneuvering around them can be a dangerous proposition, so I always have to remind myself to be patient, don't pass, just wait wait wait, and enjoy the view like the tourists. Safer, plus the cops are extremely strict about speeding.

See you on my next pass-through!

I used to live in that building, around the front above the yoga studio. Moved away right before OpenRoad set up there. What timing!
