I'm taking a weekend trip down to Davis next week and was wondering if anyone knew of any good restaurants there.

This is a very good brewpub with great beer and good food. I just ate there yesterday. My daughters husband had a pepperoni pizza, she had a nice salad with walnuts in it and I had the guacamole bacon cheeseburger which must have weighed in at half a pound. We all enjoyed very much what we had ordered. My son in law and I have had a few of their beers and they all were quite good.

My husband has been spending a lot of time in Davis and West Sacramento lately. Here is his two cents (in his own words).

Here are the best I've found in DAVIS:
Soga's is very good.

Bistro 33, Davis is also very good - younger, hipper crowd but also can be quite loud

Breakfast / brunch / lunch at Cafe's Bernardo (in the Best Western - but owned and run by a successful restaurateur from Sac.)

Sudwerk's brew pub

In SACRAMENTO, here are my reviews:
Frank Fat's - who knew there was such a thing as a Chinese steak house? Very unique and excellent!

The Broiler - very good food and service - traditional steakhouse fare and a good wine list

Rusty Duck - one of the most amazing buildings in the universe for a steakhouse! HOWEVER, the food reminded me of when my college dinning facility tried to plan a 'special' meal for end of term or something - not so good. Big disappointment.

Bistro 33, Sacramento - very good, very loud, very hip

Streets of London is a great pub - nice courtyard out back

Brew It Up - great microbrew! Great beer! Excellent and interesting food.

I ate at Bistro 33 a couple of months ago and it was excellent. Big city dining experience at a reasonable price. For a less expensive alternative, Plutos is great...you can eat outside and get an ice cream at Ben & Jerry's next door.

Thanks for the great advice. I'll write back if I get to any of yours or if I find any other good ones for you!
