I need to update a travel story about Sausalito and was hoping to get recommendations about top spots, and especially any new spots that have opened

I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for, but I've been to a few good ones.
If you're looking for coffee, I'm very much a fan of North Point coffee. It sits right off of the docks on a peaceful setting with a nice outdoor patio that makes you feel as though you're in a European cafe removed from the rest of the world. I haven't tried the food yet though. The mexican hot chocolate is also great.
For breakfast, I always love Fred's and it's been a local favorite for quite some time. They serve fresh squeezed orange juice every morning, thin pancakes and any other breakfast fare you might want. Haven't tried their lunch yet. When I go off to school, I DREAM about going back to Fred's. It's home style, so you sit at a bar or a table and might share with other people, and might even share a newspaper. I highly recommend it.
Feng Nian is a good place for a Chinese lunch or dinner. Their service is not super, but the food on the whole is good. They have some different variety from the Chinese food I'm used to seeing and have some fresh new twists. I particularly like dishes that have sweet basil in them. For a quick sandwhich with a homey side, I really love the sandwich place right to the left of Avatars, which is next to Feng Nian and is also good. Avatars is an Indian restaurant, though they do serve other types of food. They have some good sauces.
Hope some of this helps, I know there are a lot of fine dining places and these are a bit more homey, but they're very nice. I'd be very interested to hear what you come up with, so write us back when you're done!
Avatars: 2656 Bridgeway
Feng Nian: 2650 Bridgeway
Fred's Coffee Shop: 1917 Bridgeway
North Point Cafe: 1250 Bridgeway
Ps, I've heard a lot of good things about Poggio on 777 Brigeway. I've never been there, but my mom went and loved it.

Poggio Trattoria is excellent. We've been there several times and have never been disappointed. It's at 777 Bridgeway 415-332-7771.http://www.poggiotrattoria.com/
Also in Sausalito there is a newish Mexican restaurant called Saylor's South of the Border at 2009 Bridgeway. The food is great, reasonably priced and the atmosphere is relaxed:http://www.saylorssouth.com/index.htm
Enjoy!

I really liked Cork, a Sausalito wine bar my husband and I tried about six months ago. We discovered yummy small plates, an extensive selection of wines by the glass, a super-friendly and well-informed staff, and an outdoor patio with heaters. The only bummer was the generator on the patio, which was loud enough to drive us indoors.
Cork is on the corner of Johnson and Bridgeway, a little removed from most of Sausalito's bustle.
