I have lived in Mill Valley for years. I love it, but one of my few gripes is that there are very few good cheap restaurants in Southern Marin. I miss the plethora of great dives in SF. I have my list of regulars...High Tech Burrito, Cafe Del Soul, Grilly's, Avatar's, etc. Anybody have ideas?

good question! That's always one I struggle with too. If you're looking for breakfast, I really like Freds, though I'm not sure how inexpensive it is. King of the Roll in larkspur (right next to Albertsons) is also one of my FAVORITE restaurants in this area. It's definitely an experience and you'd want to talk to John Wayne, the owner because he's a kick. I love sushi, so I really can't pick a favorite for you. Go ahead and ask John what's fresh and good for the day because he's always honest with it. Tub Tims in Corte Madera can be okay for Thai food, but you should know what to pick.. I really like the Pumpkin Chicken Curry and their Pad Thai isn't bad and it's good for a college budget.
Fred's: 1917 Bridgeway, Sausalito, CA 94965 - (415) 332-4575
Tub Tim's: 510 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera
King of the Roll: (415) 924-1900
552 Magnolia Ave
Larkspur
Hope it helps

There's a newish Mexican restaurant in Sausalito - Saylor's South of the Border - owned by the same people who own the Saylor's on Harbor Drive. It has very good food, reasonable prices, a comfy decor, full bar, and parking in the back. It also has a private room upstairs for parties or business meetings.
