I was on a week-long kayak trip off Vancouver Island in British Columbia in the Johnstone Strait run by Northern Lights Expeditions. While we were at our camp one morning, a pod of orcas came up by our camp and spent two hours playing off shore and scratching themselves on the shallow gravelly shore of the strait. We could just stand on shore and watch. From the excitement our two guides expressed, this was a special occurance indeed. Gorgeous blue waters, forests, bald eagles and hearing the blowing of the orcas carry across the water from our sleeping bags. Paradise!
That is awesome! What a wonderful experience. My family took a whale watching tour in Cape Cod last summer, and while we saw around 30 or 40 whales around the boat, I would have much preferred to not have had to make the 90 minute boat ride out and back again. Standing on the shore sounds like a much nicer experience.
Thanks for sharing!
