National Geographic is a major sponsor of a new initiative. The Sierra Business Council and the Sierra Nevada Conservancy are also major players. Dozens of cities, counties and organizations all support the program.

Our ,man Doug McConnell, did a nice 3-minute overview video. It showcases the vast opportunities for recreation that are available. The WEBMAP shows over 1300 Points of Interest. We don’t want anyone to be bored! You can print out the maps or use the Mobile App for your smart phone. Nifty new idea.
The Project Manager for the effort is Nicole DeJonghe. She explained the effort at the recent Yosemite Gateway Partners meeting. This will help divert excess traffic from Yosemite and towards other attractions. The main map has links to all kinds of Sierra fun.
Then the Exploration Track link will take you to topics of Adventure, Engagement, Culture & Heritage, Local flavor and Natural Beauty. The EVENTS page lists just about everything but a cow chip tossing contest! the June 9 John Muir Festival in Groveland/Coulterville is described. I’ll be speaking there.
