Since wandering the culinary world with Kasma, she’s celebrated twenty-one years of teaching and her cooking school is still going strong. In the summer, she teaches week-long classes. The rest of the year, she conducts evening classes and between November and February guides tours of Thailand’s culture and cuisine. Martin Durante has left Oakland for Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Ratto’s is now operated by his daughter, Elena, who has downsized the grocery store a bit. Ratto’s is still a great deli and lunch spot. Elena also recommends Café 817, Tamarindo, B, Le Cheval and Breads of India nearby. Happy dining. |
